The Hendrick Hotel

CASE STUDY

Meet The Client.

Hussey Architects specialize in healthcare, hospitality and masterplan architecture. They are especially proud of their healthcare design experience, having completed 300,000 square feet of primary care facilities in the past five years.

The team reached out to us looking for some urgent help; they wanted to submit a hotel design for an architectural award with a fast-approaching deadline. Aerial rose to the challenge, producing some truly beautiful content and ensuring the team could submit their work on time.

Beauty is in the Detail

Take a look at some of the footage. Light is a really important element in this building and so we focused on capturing shadows and highlights to emphasize the strong design.

Our Role

As always we began this journey by sitting down with our clients and gathering as much information as possible about their goals and vision. Our deliverables were a 30-second video and aerial stills to convey the beauty of the building. The team had some really helpful points to share- we knew exactly what aspects of the building needed to be showcased in our footage.

When we learned of the building’s location, we knew we had an extra hurdle to navigate: the hotel sits within the Arbour Hill Prison no-fly zone. We hold an operational authorization that allows us to get permission to fly in controlled, restricted, and prohibited airspace, so we got to work securing clearance from the Irish Aviation Authority right away. We have a great relationship with both the IAA and the Irish Prison Service, so thankfully we got permission quickly. These things make a huge difference to the quality of service we can offer our clients.

We secured permission to fly on two separate days because we wanted to show the building in the best possible weather conditions. Over the two days, we used a variety of lenses to achieve some stunning results. Our wider lenses showcased the scale, setting, and location of the building. We used our tighter lenses to capture building details and architectural highlights. Back in the office, we edited our footage and added music at the pace requested by our clients. We were able to take on this request and meet our deliverables in a very tight timeframe. The award submission went in on time and as an added bonus we helped the client to secure a beautiful hommage to their work.

The Results

We are proud to say that our video and stills were packaged as part of a prestigious architectural award submission. We appreciated the importance of the building’s relationship with light and its place in the broader environment. Our client and our team are delighted with the end result.
