Safety First

At Aerial, safety underpins every flight we make. From pre-production planning to post-flight debrief, we operate to the highest standards set by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Our clients trust us to deliver stunning aerial work and to bring their crew, assets, and the public home safely every time.

Advanced Approvals

A SORA license, issued by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), is a safety approval for drone operations that don’t fit into the standard low-risk rules. It’s used for activities that might involve more complicated or higher-risk situations, like flying drones over people or in busy areas.

We also hold a license for the UK

The SORA license allows us to operate in areas and to limits that other drone operators can’t access.

Insurance

Aerial carries comprehensive commercial drone liability insurance covering third-party property damage and personal injury for all operations. Our policy reflects the scale and complexity of the projects we undertake, from single-camera property shoots to multi-drone large event operations. Certificates of insurance are available on request for production companies, venues, local authorities, and insurers.

Pre-Flight Risk Assessment

Every project begins long before the drone leaves the ground. Our operations team conducts a full site survey and risk assessment for each job, including airspace checks, NOTAM review, ground hazard identification, crowd density assessment, and weather evaluation. We use industry-standard tools to assess operational risk and produce documented safety cases, ensuring every flight has a clear plan and a clear contingency.

Airspace Management

Operating in Ireland's airspace requires coordination with the IAA, Air Traffic Control, and, in many cases, local authorities and landowners. Aerial has an established process for obtaining all necessary airspace authorisations and permissions prior to flight. Whether we're operating near Dublin Airport's CTR, over a public event, or above a live construction site, we ensure full regulatory compliance at every step.

Maintenance Standards

We operate professional-grade drone platforms from DJI's Enterprise range and other leading manufacturers, all maintained in line with manufacturer guidelines and our internal maintenance and inspection protocols. Pre-flight and post-flight checks are logged for every operation. Our equipment is regularly serviced, and we maintain redundant systems for critical commercial shoots to ensure continuity and minimise operational risk.

Data Protection & Secure Data

Aerial operates in full compliance with GDPR and Irish data protection law. Where our operations capture imagery of identifiable individuals or private properties, we follow documented data handling procedures including appropriate signage, consent protocols where required, and secure data storage and deletion policies. Our clients can be assured that all footage captured on their behalf is handled with the same professionalism as the flight itself.

Safety First Culture

Safety isn't just a checklist at Aerial, it's a culture. We conduct regular internal reviews, incident debriefs, and ongoing professional development to ensure our team stays current with regulatory changes, emerging best practices, and new technology. We believe that the best aerial work is only possible when the team on the ground and the public around them are fully protected.
